Someone was there to take a picture. But what is it worth? A picture can be scanned, cropped, and altered. It is removed from its context. Why did the photographer frame the shot this way? What lies just outside the frame? In photo after photo, the people are missing, but there are people here. There is an elementary school across the street. Everyday children walk past, play outside at recess. You can hear their voices, laughter. The photograph captures a single moment, but it does not tell the whole story. A picture is not worth a thousand words. Sometimes, there are no words.
