Grey skies, grey skies, grey skies. What is a depression? Mental or economic? During times of recession, second-hand stores, pawn shops, and shoe repair shops always see a boon in business. Here, even our pawn shops can’t survive. A hollow, as in a depression in the ground. An emptiness. There are no grocery stores or corner stores in large sections of the city. You have to take a bus to buy an apple, and there’s no telling when the bus will come. What kind of toll does this take on a person? On a child? How is this trauma overcome?
